Home — Εκδηλώσεις — Recital with works by Mikis Theodorakis
The Greek National Opera celebrates the 95th anniversary of the birth of the great Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis (1925) by organising a series of concerts in his honour. The concert will feature his emblematic songs that "marked" Hellenism for more than half a century, lyrical and epic references from his song cycles in collaboration with the most important Greek poets, "mosaics" from his world-famous film hits and his magnificent folk works. Works that have left their indelible fingerprints both in international music creation and in the cultural heritage of our country.
The four charismatic, renowned and recognized for their artistic contribution, Rita Antonopoulou, Thodoris Voutsikakis, Zacharias Karounis and Betty Harlaftis, validate in the best way the timelessness of the messages of Mikis Theodorakis' music, passing on their deepest meaning to younger generations. With them at the piano, the arranger and head of the Music Library and the Historical Archive of the National Opera, Yannis Bellonis, a close collaborator of Mikis Theodorakis for more than a decade.
A special anniversary concert for Miki Theodorakis' 95th birthday, with all the performers, will take place on 29 July.
The public will have the opportunity to enjoy two unique musical evenings at the archaeological site of Aptera, the fourth programme of the recital with works by Mikis Theodorakis, as planned by the National Opera in the framework of a series of concerts in honour of the great composer.
